Meet the Founder

Meet Jerusha Terry, M.Ed.

A dedicated educator, Montessori practitioner, facilitator, and curriculum specialist with more than 35 years of experience helping children learn, grow, and understand.

Jerusha Terry, M.Ed. is the founder of Engaged Hands and the heart behind its teaching philosophy. With more than 35 years of experience in early childhood education, Montessori instruction, curriculum development, teacher support, and hands-on learning, she brings a deep understanding of how children learn and how educators can guide them with purpose.

Her work is grounded in the belief that children learn best when they are actively engaged. She helps children move beyond memorizing answers by giving them opportunities to touch, move, explore, ask, repeat, explain, and connect concepts to real life.

Through Engaged Hands, Jerusha brings her experience to families, teachers, schools, and children through direct instruction, consulting, literacy camp experiences, and educational learning materials. Her goal is to help children build confidence and understanding while helping adults create learning experiences that are meaningful, practical, and developmentally appropriate.

Lifelong Learning

Never Stop Learning, Never Stop Growing

Engaged Hands is built on the belief that children thrive when learning feels purposeful, joyful, and connected to real understanding. Every program, material, and lesson reflects a dedication to growth — for children and the adults who guide them.

From the Montessori Mobile Microschool to summer literacy camp, children are invited to explore with their hands, explain with their words, and build confidence through meaningful practice.

What Jerusha Believes About Learning

Children are capable learners when they are given the right materials, guidance, time, and opportunity to understand.

"Children should not only be told what to learn. They should be guided to understand why it matters and how it connects to the world around them."
— Jerusha Terry, M.Ed.

Children Learn Through Experience

When children can touch, move, hear, see, and repeat a concept, learning becomes more concrete and meaningful.

Curiosity Has a Purpose

A child's questions and interests can open the door to learning, but expert guidance gives the lesson direction and depth.

Understanding Matters More Than Memorization

The goal is not simply for a child to repeat information. The goal is for the child to understand and explain it.
